Green Pea Casserole Recipe

The green pea casserole recipe is super simple, very tasty and an interesting way to make simple peas into a nice addition to a meal.
2 Tablespoons butter
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 cups milk
8 cups frozen peas
1/2 cup fine bread crumbs
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a casserole dish with butter and set aside.
In a large skillet, melt butter and add onion and season with salt and pepper. Slowly sprinkle in the flour and continue cooking for 1 minute.
Add milk slowly while stirring until mixture is smooth. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
Add the frozen peas while stirring and until heated through.
Pour the mixture into the greased casserole dish and then sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs.
Bake for 10 minutes until cheese is melted and breadcrumbs are light, golden brown.
