Chocolate Cake From Scratch Recipe
A moist chocolate cake recipe with a creamy chocolate frosting
2 cups granulatedsugar
1 3/4 cups all purposeflour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoonsbaking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup vegetableoil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Homemade Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2cups unsweetened cocoa powder
5 1/3 cups confectioners’ sugar
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Smarties or M&M’s
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F .
Grease and flour two 9 inchcake pans
In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
In a medium bowl, scramble the eggs, and then beat in milk, oil and vanilla.
Add wet ingredients to the flour mixture and mix for 3 minutes with anelectric mixer. You can also do this by hand.
Stir in the boiling water with a fork and mix in well. It will be runny. Pour evenly into the greased pan.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until a cake tester or toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to cool completely on racks.
Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting
Cream butter until light and fluffy.
Stir in the cocoa and confectioners sugar alternately with the milk and vanilla. Beat to a spreading consistency.
Put the first layer of cake on your cake plate. Put some of the frosting in the middle Put the second layer of cake on top.
Frost the entire cake. Draw the squares with a knife and place an M&M or Smartie in each square.
